Decoding the Images, Visions, and Signals of the Deep Unconscious
Water
- Literal: Transparent, odorless fluid forming rivers, lakes, and oceans.
- Psychological: The vast unconscious mind, emotions, memory, and instinctual feeling currents.
- Metaphysical: The fluid Materia Prima, purifying waters of baptism, impressionable ocean of mind.
- Experiential: Dreams of tidal waves (overwhelm), clear pools (clarity), or deep ocean diving (subconscious exploration).
Fire
- Literal: Rapid oxidation releasing heat, light, and reaction products.
- Psychological: Passion, anger, creative drive, intense desire, and rapid transformation.
- Metaphysical: Spiritual purification, alchemical transmutation, burning away illusions and ego.
- Experiential: Sensations of burning away old identities, fiery inspiration, or purging heat in meditation.
Path
- Literal: A track laid down for walking or traveling on foot.
- Psychological: Direction in life, purpose, sequential psychological development, self-discipline.
- Metaphysical: The Tao, the Way, the soul's chosen trajectory of initiation through physical life.
- Experiential: Seeing a clear road ahead in dreams, or feeling lost and looking for direction in life.
Door
- Literal: A hinged barrier used to close off an entrance to a room or building.
- Psychological: Transitions between states of consciousness, thresholds, willingness to explore new mindscapes.
- Metaphysical: Portals between dimensional planes, gateways to initiation and higher spiritual realms.
- Experiential: Facing a closed door in dreams (readiness test) or stepping through into sudden revelation.
Mirror
- Literal: A reflective surface that forms an image of whatever is in front of it.
- Psychological: Projection; seeing disowned parts of oneself reflected back through other people or events.
- Metaphysical: Creation as a reflection of consciousness; the mind reflecting divine reality.
- Experiential: Looking at physical events and realizing they directly mirror your inner belief patterns.
Dark Night / Night
- Literal: The period of darkness between sunset and sunrise.
- Psychological: Periods of deep depression, existential crisis, loss of identity, and meaninglessness.
- Metaphysical: The Dark Night of the Soul; spiritual stripping of ego attachments to prepare for divine union.
- Experiential: Feeling completely abandoned by spiritual guidance, followed by profound inner purification.
The Ice / Cold
- Literal: Frozen water; low atmospheric temperature.
- Psychological: Emotional numbness, psychological paralysis, repressed feelings, isolation.
- Metaphysical: Stagnant, fixed spirit trapped in rigid material form awaiting spiritual warmth/fire.
- Experiential: Using extreme cold to cultivate willpower, or recognizing emotional walls around the heart.
The Screen / Reflected Surface
- Literal: A flat surface on which pictures or light are projected.
- Psychological: The screen of projection where the mind plays out its hidden anxieties and desires.
- Metaphysical: The illusion of physical reality (Maya); the surface upon which consciousness projects existence.
- Experiential: Realizing that the world you see is a mental projection, experiencing detached observation.
